Literature Text
Amanda just laughed and twirled in an arc over my head, shaking her head at me, which made dewy raindrops fall from her bouncing, curling, iridescent hair.
Have you ever seen a wind person? You can’t imagine how beautiful they are. You look at them, and almost see through them, the way you can almost see through a diamond but can’t because of the way the light is playing inside of it. But instead of serious light that shoots in straight lines and triangles and hard cuts, it plays in their skin, jumping and gusting, not quite solid in appearance but never letting you doubt how present and real and true they are.

The Lost boy
it was the saltiest bowl breakfast i had
and the tastiest as well
i kiss you first because most of the time
i didn't know what you were thinking
but i had an idea that you wanted to be
just friends with the occasional flirting
when the mood strikes you and i wanted
more from you
you pulled me closer with a half hug, and
that's just so you
you said we would talk and we didn't
i cried for many months after

81. Pen and Paper.
You stare at the wordless page before you, each blue line meshing together. No comprehensive thoughts come to your mind. You twirl the pen between your fingers absently. With your other hand, you rest your palm flat against your cheek.
"Three minutes left." The voice of your teacher rings across the classroom. You hear the scratch of pens against paper quicken as the end of the essay nears. You place your ballpoint pen down with a sigh of disappointment, staring numbly at that cruel piece of bare paper.
Your teacher walks around the room collecting the papers after those three long minutes ended. She raises an eyebrow at your blank sheet

Bennett
Never have I met someone
so unafraid of the dark,
so willing to face my demons
& fight this beast.
Of course I would love you,
my clueless warrior,
of course I would treasure
your simple heart of gold
& it's you that I long for
in the night time
when the madness comes
creeping in.
Your arms & your warmth
chase the emptiness away.

Even if you have trouble explaining how you see them, I feel like I can at least get a sense of what you are trying to get across. The metaphor is really striking - I really wish I could see something like them in real life. They definitely do sound gorgeous. For something of the wind, though, it seems like such a sharp comparison. I kind of enjoy that contrast! I'll be looking forward to more of her
