As long-promised for winning my Autumn Contest, here's a feature of the lovely *Kishmet, for her winning piece:



She's one of those rare but beautiful combinations of having great skill, friendly personality, a sense of humor, humility without being down on herself, and she enjoys the same fandoms I do! (Zelda and Tales of Symphonia specifically) ^^ I don't know HOW she doesn't have more pageviews except that sometimes that's just how it goes; she's a real winner!

I first came across her gallery in 2008, during Ocarina of Time's 10th anniversary! I found this lovely picture:

Not only was the art great, but in our back-and-forth comments she cheered me on in my effort to finally finish OoT. Since then, oh MAN her style and skill have grown tremendously! I'm very proud of her artwork and progress - she achieves different styles and types of shading and coloring, and even works well on grayscale. With her recent works especially I think she's got nigh unto professional skill level going on - or at least great potential in that direction!

This one - when I look at it, it's just so vibrantly colored! Between that and the usage of the smudge tool, this piece really has a feel that if I reached out and touched the it I'd get paint on my fingers. Also, something that's important to me: it's not just seeing a character in fall, but it's giving the character a moment. Something about Epona's position makes me feel somewhat of her mood and personality. I enjoy the use of brushes in this one - well done, :hylianwolflink:!

I adore this one. I can't even say how much! It's deceptively simple, with just flat lines and flat colors, and no shading to speak of, but the somber, hopeful mood it conveys is strong and touching to me. This is a moment I believe in. It's completely true to character. The colors are muted and subtle, contributing to this thoughtful, nostalgic moment Zuko is having - a return to the pond, where he was with his mother once, before he seeks for his mother again. Nostalgia seems incredibly autumnal to me. I can't say enough how much I love this piece! Congrats, *Iyadaethras!

Need I say more? First of all, I'm flattered that someone would put this much detail and style into an entry for just my little contest! Second of all, wow. *_* First of all, each character looks completely perfect - their eyes and hair just look alive, their expressions and faces...I adore it!The lighting and shading is gorgeous, and I like all the care put into the textures, dapples from the shadows, and the fairies' reflected lights. The costume changes / additions for autumn are just - well, perfect! And the MOMENT. THIS is what I wanted to see and am so gratified to see in all of these - the depiction of, not just beloved characters in fall, but the characters in a moment I believe in, something specific to their characters and stories, that just hits the spot! It's adorable. The Deku Sprout must be very pleased with the Forest Sage, Hero of Time and Princess of Destiny! I love how they're acting, not just in those capacities, but in the capacity of friends - and serving, as appropriate to the beginning of the holiday season (which to me, starts in fall). Not to mention what a purely autumnal feeling and appearance it has!

Thank you all for your entries thus far, and remember you can keep them coming in until tonight! I WOULD say "midnight" but that's just silly, as we're all in different time zones and people stay up late and I'm in school tomorrow morning anyway. Thus, "get it in tonight" means "get it in before I check tomorrow and it'll count as tonight." I get off school at noon U.S. Central time and generally come home and check my internetz then. I plan to judge that day/night. BASICALLY, if I haven't yet posted a journal saying who won, you're free to send in your entry, but be warned, it's dangerous to wait too long! So...yes. Here in Texas things are overcast but mainly still green! I need me some Autumn weather, folks! Bring it to me via one of my favorite fandoms, or just generically awesome representations of Autumn, in this fun contest!

DEADLINE has been extended to MONDAY, November 30, 2009. That's just after U.S. Thanksgiving so if you're on break for it, you'll have time to finish up ^^ I'll judge within a day or two so get these in on time!

Just so you know what I know, for what to work with with this contest~

If you're a Zelda fan, I'm pretty much familiar with and love all the Zelda games EXCEPT I don't know Four Swords and Oracles, so if you do Zelda keep it to the other games. ^^

If you're a Fire Emblem fan! I know Path of Radiance, SOME of Radiant Dawn but please don't spoil me, I've never seen very much past "Elincia's Gambit"! I know Fire Emblem (Eliwood's game <.< ) and I know Shadow Dragon and Sword of Seals as well, but obviously I'm biased towards the TCE/AtA alternate universes

If you're an Avatar fan! Well...this one's pretty free reign, lol! But don't do Maiko <_< I've made my peace with it but don't care for it and thusly wash my hands of it and move on but anything else, keeping it appropriate!

Additionally: DISNEY! I'd happy to see any Disney Princesses/Princes/Heroes/Heroines/characters (Mary Poppins for example ^^), but I'm more interested in people than animals or cars or toys or anything like that (with the notable exceptions of Dumbo, Bambi, Lady and the Tramp, and Lion King).

If you wanna run an idea by me, let me know. ^^
